How the change of idea went.
I believe the sudden change of plan was a huge success. It allowed us the freedom to use a variety of shots and impose a tense effect on the audience. On the other hand with the other idea we had to stick with specific shots in order to make the opening make sense. Furthermore we was able to execute our idea within the short period of time and do it I believe, successfully. It is no secret that there were doubts before we changed our idea however this risk deemed to pay off. This because we was able to use the rule of thirds and create a tense atmosphere which is what we wished to do. The whole time we were taking into consideration our target audience and with the previous idea we didn't think it suited our aim, however the change of plan allowed us to execute what was ideal for the target audience.
rule of thirds
We used this rule in our opening quite a few times. one of the most interesting times we used it was during the point in which there was a birds eye view in between two walls to show the entire scene and give the audience a feel of the setting.

Pitch Target
1) Make the pitch sound more reliable by possibly adding more statistics.
2) Add more images to make it look more attractive and contribute to making our concept clear and precise
3) Identify exact schedule of production

Individual Pitch feedback
I was responsible for film distribution in the pitch. I was told to add statistics to back my argument of reliable of film distribution, here are some of my improvements:

2 influential films
one of the scenes we included in our film opening was influenced by a scene we had all seen in the film wolf of wall street. This seen included the idea that Chris would stumble down the stairs making it look like he's not in control of his body.
We had previously worked around this movie, we got an idea from this movie that there should be a point of confrontation between the two characters. This point is the point in which we hoped the audience would be able to identify the antagonist and the protagonist. However the use of dialogue was very limited in this scene, we done this for effect. This effect was the effect which would create suspense.

Hi guys Congratulations on getting your rough cut finished but it’s not posted to your blog yet. Can you please embed it from the Youtube channel? Thanks. I’m going to hold off on giving specific feedback though until you’ve all written your own individual assessments as per your HW. If you do wish to reshoot though, come and see me and I’ll give you some advice. Don’t be too discouraged though. You learn through producing work that’s unsatisfying. Re. your blogs. I am very disappointed that there’s only one piece up documenting the practical. You need a lot more entries and all of you need to be making posts. You need at least 10 entries (if not more). You need to document the process of filming, update production schedule, what you are learning about editing and how the whole process of shooting, being dissatisfied with your footage and having to adjust and replan. As I discussed with Yusuf, if you don’t post evidence of what you do on filming sessions (both planning and documenting filming via blogging and posting), I don’t know what you’ve done. You may have filmed loads of incredible work but I will have no idea of who has done what until you document it. You must understand that this is NOT just about the film. The blog is documenting your work process and abilities to get organised and it’s this that you are being assessed on NOT just the film on it’s own. Please get some entries up by the first lesson the next lesson otherwise I’ll have to put you back on CFC (First Warning, this time). The blogging will make a significant difference to your grade can make the difference between a C and D. Chris is grading higher than the rest of you as there’s clear evidence he did more on the blog. I dread to think how much there would have been if he hadn’t stepped up here. Shakur/Yusuf/Alan – D for blogging health check 2 as there’s little sign you’ve done any work here. Chris – C. Would be higher but has fallen off in recent weeks. Dan

Hi guys You have some excellent documentation of your pitch. Well done. I particularly liked the post on learning to use technology (17/11) – this is exactly what I want you to be doing, thinking critically about what you are learning. Your posts on audience research and audience profiling are also really good. I would like you to put your blogs in order (I’ll show you how to do this this afternoon) and edit then so that each post is clearly marked numbered and marked RESEARCH (pre-pitch stuff), PLANNING (Pitch), PRODUCTION. You can then put these in the right order, compare this to the blogging checklist and so you can then see what you are missing. The PRODUCTION blogs are blogs about your filming, documenting what you are doing currently. Only one production blog up so far by Shakur – it’s good, you consider problems well, but could have some images as well. Grab some photos as you film, write about what you achieved and how any plans have changed post shoot. Post photos of costumes, props etc. Write individual blogs about what you’ve learned from the process of filming. You can produce these blogs as videos as well. Blogging is an essential part of the course so I’d like to see ALL members of the group making a contribution here (this means you, Yusuf and Alan). Cheers Dan

HI Alan You have some good posts on your blog but are still at only 16 when we should be touching 20 or more by now. Your last post on the evaluation of practical remake activity is very good but some earlier posts i.e. your analysis of your favourite film could do with more work – the writing could be extended. There is still some work that I can’t see: Camtasia on Sound(16) as well as the Audience research work from class on Tuesday (12) and your posts on genre you’d like to work on. Please get all this posted as soon as possible. Please note that a blog is a multi media production so should include video, images, gifs etc. Try to use a wide range of these in your posts. Also, could you edit all of the blogs so they have the task numbers in the title. You need to add RESEARCH as well. In addition, you’ve not yet posted your initial brainstorming of creative ideas that we did on the last Friday of term. This should be marked PLANNING as this is what we are doing from now on. When this is done, you should go through a checklist and mark off all the blogs that you’ve done. You should get *everything* on the list completed for a top grade. So – you’ve done some good work but need to push yourself a bit to get completely up to date. Remember, you can and should be using workshop to get fully on top. Dan

analysis of sound design
Why is sound so important in film?
Many may see sound as the most important factor in a film. It has been said that sound creates emotion and connects the audience. A real sense of joy or upset can be felt.
Patrick Drummond a sound editor has said:
Can you imagine Jaws without that score? Apocalypse Now without its bombastic, visceral sound effects? Psycho without those grating strings as Janet Leigh is mercilessly knifed in the shower? Sound is undoubtedly a vital element of film production, but does anyone actually acknowledge this? From Jack Foley’s first tentative steps on The Phantom of the Opera and Dracula in the mid-1920s and early 1930s, to the highly developed sound editing of masterworks like No Country for Old Men and the scores of the Star Wars films, sound is integral to the film-going experience, but is not always treated as such.
This sums up the fact that people undermine the power of sound and how it plays a vital factor in creating suspense and emotion and this doesn't only apply for music it applies for all types of sounds from sound effects to soundtracks.

plan for evaluation (Q1)
codes and conventions:
Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning. Codes can be divided into two categories – technical and symbolic. Technical codesare all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text, for example the camera work in a film.
These are things i will describe and how our media product will challenge these. Examples of this are the sound we used and the different shot types.

Emaze presentation
Slide 1 - conventions of title sequences
Slide 2- Compare credits
Slide 3 - explain conventions
Slide 4 - compare with stills
Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Editing.
There were a number of ideas we had for the editing process of our work. One of the main aims was to make sure that the audience understood the idea of a hallucination, this was a vital aspect of our editing as it would shape what the entire opening is about. One way we would do this was through the type of music that was used, the type of music we used was a pumped up fast paced type of music. This would put the audience in the correct mindset and sets them up for a fast paced opening.
Another way would do this is through the pace of the clips. We varied the speed of each clip, by doing this we were able to slow down and speed up the clips where necessary so the audience will feel like they're hallucinating themselves. This would be the point at which the audience interact with the film. We used three different programmes in the process, these programmes were adobe after effects, premier pro and photoshop. Each of these had a different purpose for example we used photoshop for creating a logo and then used after effects in order to make it a moving logo.

Settting myself targets
Despite there being a real development in my practical work, I need to take into consideration in my blogging one of my main priorities from media will be to blog much more. I hope by doing this my grade will increase.
Another of my targets will be to work really hard with our opening as there has been a sudden change of idea and to execute this idea we must work really hard and organise our time carefully as we need to be aware that we still need to edit.
I hope I can achieve these targets and by doing so I hope I can take my work to the next level. I have taken into consideration that to achieve this I must be prepared to do much more work than usual and I plan to do so.

Time For A Change?
Recently a fresh idea has come to our heads that can really enhance the level of our work. This minor idea will affect the interpretation of the audience as they will see the opening in a completely different way. The idea of a typical opening didn't suit us so we decided to add a little twist. This twist consisted of a hallucination scene between the two characters, we hope that this will give the audience a clear understanding of the two main characters.
We understand that we may have left this a little to late however we are willing to put in a real shift in order to get our opening to where we want it to be as from the early stages of this idea we can see real potential. I personally agree with the idea as it will make our opening much more engaging and also individuals can have there own interpretation of the scene rather than there just being one general understanding of the opening

Researching into existing distribution companies
Ill manors
Revolver Entertainment (2012) (UK) (theatrical) .
The company went into administration in 2013 however are film is trying to revive the UK company right now revolver is working on distributing US films. The owners of the company are Justin Marciano (CEO)
Seb Marciano (President)
Marketing tools - The film ill manors was marketed online with twitter and facebook profiles as many youths had the social media outlets. Also the budget was 100,000 so this would of been the best marketing to reflect the budget of the film. Also there was a trailer online what previewed snippets of the film so not a lot of the budget had to be spent a trailer to be produced.
Social media - As I said social media was one of the most advertising outlets as it was one of the cheapest and most effective to the people who the film was marketed to the youth
Draft only posted now but was made on 16/11/2015

Setting targets
Setting targets
1)
- Use prezi
2)
Post more blogs everyday
3)
Make a post on character identity and also audience (these two will be my next post)
(Shakur Cover)
(Shakur Cover)
Strengths
- lots of research done into other shot styles and genre conventions
- good extensive research such as watching films to gain understanding.
Weaknesses
- I also need use other programs such as prezi to improve the style of my blog
- Not enough photography has been presented in my blog
- I feel like evaluating films has been an enjoyable opportunity from this opportunity I can further improve my blogs making them much better as I will have a better understanding after evaluating.

Reevaluating Sound Design and Music
Reevaluating Sound Design and Music
Sound Design
For our sound design we have decided that we are going to use many different sounds and sound effects.
Sound effects that are going to be used
High pitched sounds
Distorted Voices
Distorted Noises such as banging
Music what sounds chopped and screwed

Music
I believe for the vibe that we are going for it would be good for the music to be normal at first but soon as the trip starts we can turn the music into a chopped and screwed it will add an elaborate effect to the hallucinations I have pick a few songs what could be used such as
Playboi Carti - Broke Boi (Normal)

Playboi Carti - Broke Boi (Chopped) http://youtu.be/wTdErQXGb18

Reevaluating and assessing new ideas
Reevaluating and assessing new ideas
Genre; Drama.
We have decided that our film is called 'Mind' (subject to change)
Our movie will be produced by 'Film 38' and will distributed by 'Sony Pictures'
I would like the film to be based on subjectivity , subjectivity is when the camera enters the mind of the character and shows want they are experiencing in their mind. I hope to create a halucination of character robbing somebody, to further this I believe we could have to characters stuck within the same hallucination at once. This idea can work well as it improves on the current idea and gives more ideas of shots we can use and produce to improve the work further.
Influences - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (camera shots and techniques to improve a hallucination when being filmed) .
What knowledge I gained from the influence -
Audio - Speech can be said in past and present tense to distorting the viewers sense of time. Distorted background music seemed as if it was playing in the head of the character. Noises getting louder or less distant.
Camera angles - close up frames (when going in and out of the hallucinations)
Wide shots (to show change in perception )
Titlted angles (as they give a sense of unease to the viewer)
Shot choice will reinforce the characters emotional state
Type of lens - Wide lens (the viewer can see more of a perspective) if the lens becomes really wide in can really distort the viewers ideas and perception causing a fish eye effect show the state of the character.
(Shakur Cover)
Evaluating Rough Cut
The rough cut produced shows the selected shots for the production the rough cut also revealed that we need a some more shots however on selected scenes we have many shots to be used. The rough cut showed positives and negatives such as -
Postives -
Wide range of shots on certain scenes
Stablized footage (not shaky)
Negatives -
Not enough shots in certain scenes
The story doesn't seem as good as we projected it to be
Some shots don't look right
We can improve the final product by doing more filming and maybe changing the story this can be done with in 2 days a lot of hard work has to be done to achieve this but I believe it's possible if we put it the amount of work what is needed to improve the work.

Production Day- Filming - Yusuf Caunhye
Filming went relatively well and we were able to shoot enough shots for half of the film however there were certain problems. The first was that the actors looked at the camera which gave an unreal amateuristic feel to the film. This problem was fixed by reshooting those shots. Secondly we had the problem of members of the public intruding upon the shot we were trying to film. This was fixed by either moving to less crowded place or waiting until there were less people.
In my opinion many things went well as we didn't run into any significant problems.
